A note from Amber
(“Shopkeeper,” editor, writer, & wobbly guide behind Maison d’Evangeline)
Hey, there. 👋 And welcome to the (sometimes) fortnightly INFJ writers club newsletter!
This month has been Crazy Town! My husband and I run a side pet photography business, and for all of April, we’ve been running a calendar contest for one of our local Humane Societies. It’s gone really well, but it’s kept us much busier than we expected. Fortunately, I’ve still had time for writing, but (less fortunately) the newsletters were skipped mid-April. C’est la vie.
Anyway, thanks for being part of the INFJ writers club! I hope you enjoy this issue.
xo,
A.

I was reading a book about personal branding for the Bibliotherapy club by Jessica Zweig called Be: A No-Bullsh*t Guide to Increasing Your Self Worth and Net Worth by Simply Being Yourself, when I came across this passage:
Your personal brand is what other people say about you when you’re not around.
But if you are passive, it will become what others say, instead. You hold the pen, so write your own damn narrative.
3 things that might change your life

In the happiness department … It’s actually kind of nice to give yourself permission to do certain things simply because they make you happy. Some of the items in this list show (a) how hard it can be to “allow” ourselves what we’ve somehow come to see as luxuries and (b) how little it actually takes to make ourselves feel cared for and nourished at the soul level.
In the writing and the I’m-with-the-banned department … I’ve enjoyed Salmon Rushdie’s interviews lately while he’s out promoting his new book. In this one, I thought about how, as INFJs, we can often censor ourselves, simply because we too often prioritize “keeping the peace” (in the short term at least—I’m not sure our attempts are all that successful in the long term). I also like the thought from fellow author, Martin Amos, about leaving a shelf of books behind. I like that aim and legacy.
From the put-yourself-out-there department … Since being reminded about Notion (Thanks, Christel!), I’ve been revisiting content I’ve saved there, including this piece from Nick Offerman on Donkey Thoughts about how to overcome self-doubt.
In case you missed it …

And if you would, please …
Share your writing pal profile. If you need more info or want to read mine, you’ll find that here.
Share the club with your INFJ and/or writer friends.
Spread the word on social media, too! The more, the INFJ-ier.
(Also, if this newsletter was forwarded to you, here’s a little about the INFJ writers club at Maison d’Evangeline. I hope you’ll consider joining us!)
And that’s all for this fortnight.
If you have ideas and/or resources for future issues, please let me know.
Thanks for reading and for being part of the INFJ writers club!
P.S. Remember you can share your writing with the club, too, if you dare.
