Hey, there. 👋
And welcome!
You’ve stumbled on the INFJ writers club at Maison d’Evangeline!
Here’s a quick introduction.
There are five focus areas—or, really, priorities—of the INFJ writers club.
#1 INFJs
Part of the content within the INFJ writers club focuses on the INFJ personality type within the Myers Briggs system or theory, including INFJ strengths, struggles, and tendencies.
By learning how you perceive and engage with the world, you’ll be better equipped to make the most of your personality’s advantages, as well as minimize and work around its weaknesses, in life, in your relationships, and, most importantly for our work here, your writing!
#2 Writers
A second focus of the content focuses on writers and writ-ing, in general (and note that both nonfiction and fiction writers are welcome to join, but, a warning, my personal focus is non-fiction, so much of the content (at least at first) may lean non-fiction. As soon as we pick up a substantial enough following, I’ll be seeking out a fiction-focused mentor or two to balance out the content.).
This portion of the content focuses on key takeaways from different books and references on writing, as well as routines, methods, and advice from well-known writers across history and genres.
#3 the INFJ writer
While we do cover writing and writers in general, the main purpose of this club is to focus on the specific advantages and challenges of the INFJ writer. I can personally attest (and have heard other INFJs claim this as well) that becoming aware of and understanding my inherent qualities as an INFJ has led to major improvements in the way I show up in the world, whether in my writing, my other work, or my relationships.
But I can’t say I’ve fully incorporated (or that I even understand) all the ways being an INFJ influences my writing. The aim is to provide a place for exploring and experimenting with being an INFJ writer, among other INFJ writers, in hopes that we learn how to get out of our own way even a little faster, in order to do our work in the world.
#4 the club/community
Although we’re a bunch of solitary, introverted, homebodies, we still love people, especially when we’re able to connect at a deeper level or around a shared love, interest, or cause.
The goal of the club/community aspect of the INFJ writers club is to provide a safe space for exploring, expanding, and experimenting with our writing, so we’ll be building in methods for gathering to discuss and connect around the writing, as well as foster accountability around moving our visions forward and getting the writing done (or even just developing a consistent practice around our writing!).
We’ll be experimenting with a variety of writing methods and group formats, in order to find ones that work for a range of preferences (because although we’re all INFJs, we’re not carbon copies and have our own preferred ways of doing things!).
In short, think of the INFJ writers club as part support group, part writing coach, part accountability partner, with the goal of helping you meet (or exceed!) the vision you have for your writing.
#5 Bibliotherapy
This wouldn’t be Maison d’Evangeline without a bibliotherapy component!
If you haven’t heard of Maison d’Evangeline (or here on Substack), it’s a little-known bookshop focused on meaning, contentment, and care of the soul through the vehicle of bibliotherapy (book therapy).
As with the Bibliotherapy club, and Maison d’Evangeline in general, we’ll be reading a lot of books (and, in our case, a lot of books about writing)!
Books have been my main way of finding virtual mentors for all sorts of challenges and issues in life, and writing’s no different, so think of this as both a writing club and a book club—a two-for-one (and perfect for the book nerds among us, which would be … everyone🤷♀️)!
So, for now, mix, mingle, and make some friends! And if there’s no one here yet except you and me, then share your writing pal profile and let’s get to know one another! Here’s mine.
Also, here are the club rules, disclaimers, and disclosures.
I think that’s it for now.
I’m making this up as I go, so I’m sure there will be some adjustments along the way. And on that note, if there’s anything you’d like to see at the INFJ writers club, be sure to reach out and let me know (this is a club after all!).
So glad to have you here!
xo,
Amber
